OUR ETHOS
At Wild Smoked, our ethics come first in every decision we make.
We believe that the world would be a better place if more of us made a point to buy from our local business community before looking afar or to multinational corporations for the goods and services we need.
We believe that supporting local businesses enriches us all by building strong, resilient communities. Local businesses provide meaningful and dignified employment to local people and the profits made by those businesses are generated back into the community.
We believe that having a tangible connection to the sources of the food we eat and to the people who produce it is crucial. It ensures that we eat clean and healthy, for our bodies and the planet.
A code of ethics is all very well and good, but it doesn’t mean much without action. Therefore…
We commit to providing well-paid employment to local workers.
We connect directly with our community, participating in farmer’s markets and festivals. We make a point to supply local outlets and do not sell to large chain stores that we feel detract from our community as a whole.
We make ourselves available to our customers, who give us valuable feedback and enable us to learn about their needs.
We are transparent about the provenance and processes of our food so that our customers know exactly what they’re getting.
We support local suppliers and fishermen as much as possible, even when we could buy cheaper produce from outside our borders.
Although every business must make a profit, we focus on serving our community first, and profit second. We believe success is hollow if it comes at the expense of our dearest values.
